Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care to surgical patients before, during, and after procedures
• Maintain sterile technique and support surgical teams across general, gyn, ortho, neuro, vascular, robotic, and thoracic cases
• Accurately document patient care and procedures using Cerner to ensure continuity and compliance
• Anticipate surgeon and team needs in the OR and prepare instruments, supplies, and equipment
• Advocate for patient safety and comfort while helping coordinate care with anesthesia, RT, pharmacy, and other departments
• Participate in unit rotation, call, and holiday coverage as scheduled to support the team
• Complete required orientation and competency checks, and support peers during high-volume procedure days

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to submit)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (perioperative/OR experience preferred)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (or must be current upon start)
• COVID-19 vaccination required per facility policy
• Comfortable with charting in Cerner and basic EMR workflows
• Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holiday rotations
• Strong teamwork, communication, and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced OR environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma accepted; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing best practices and sterile technique
• Experience with a variety of surgical specialties (general, gyn, ortho, neuro, vascular, robotic, thoracic)
• Proficiency in Cerner charting and electronic documentation
• Familiarity with OR equipment, instrument sets, and surgical workflows
• Ability to respond calmly to intraoperative changes and urgent situations
• Good time management, situational awareness, and collaboration skills
