Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile field and ensure strict adherence to OR aseptic technique
• Set up instruments, supplies and equipment for a high-volume operating room with 15-25 cases per day
• Scrub and assist surgeons during procedures, including orthopedic totals and specialty cases when experienced
• Perform accurate instrument counts and turnover tasks to keep the schedule moving safely
• Document perioperative care and case details in Cerner Surginet
• Collaborate closely with circulating nurses, anesthesia team and surgeons to deliver coordinated patient care
• Participate in orientation and mentor new team members during the partnered preceptor week
• Respond professionally to call assignments and contribute to holiday and call coverage when scheduled

Qualifications

• BLS certification required
• COVID-19 vaccination required
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room experience required
• Prior scrub tech or surgical tech experience in an acute OR setting
• Cerner Surginet experience strongly preferred
• Experience with orthopedic cases preferred; CV or robotic cases required only if you have specific experience
• Comfort working 10-hour day shifts and participating in the defined call rotation

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation and surgical instrumentation sets
• Familiarity with OR workflows, turnover processes and high-volume case management
• Competence documenting in Cerner Surginet or similar EMR systems
• Ability to scrub for orthopedic, neuro/spine, CV and robotic procedures when experienced
• Excellent teamwork, communication and ability to perform under paced clinical conditions
• Attention to detail for counts, equipment checks and patient safety protocols
