Roles & Responsibilities

• Decontaminate and process surgical instruments with meticulous attention to detail
• Perform sterile packaging and instrument sterilization to ensure patient safety
• Operate and maintain sterilization equipment such as Sterad, Steris 1, washer disinfection and steam disinfection
• Support operating room teams by preparing and tracking instrument sets for procedures
• Document sterilization processes and chart in Cerner to maintain accurate records
• Follow infection control policies and best practices to protect patients and staff
• Collaborate with OR and allied division colleagues to improve workflow and instrument turnaround

Qualifications

• Certification through IAHCSMM or CBSPD (required)
• Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT) verification (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of sterile processing experience (required)
• Experience in an acute care setting and/or Operating Room (OR) experience preferred
• Familiarity with Sterad, Steris 1, washer and steam disinfection systems a plus

• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Instrument sterilization and sterile packaging best practices
• Decontamination workflows and infection control standards
• Operation of Sterad and Steris 1 sterilizers and washer/disinfection equipment
• Charting and documentation in Cerner
• Ability to prioritize instrument sets and support fast-paced OR needs
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to regulatory standards
