Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, primarily day shifts (8-hour or 12-hour options; 10-hour day shifts also noted). Call required: 3 weekday evening/night call shifts and 3 weekend call shifts per 6-week schedule; call response time 30 minutes. Rotating holidays with core staff. (Typical schedules include a mix of 8s, 10s and 12s; day-focused coverage.)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care to surgical patients across ortho, neuro and general surgery specialties
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, CSTs and the perioperative team to ensure safe, efficient cases
• Perform pre-op assessments, intraoperative monitoring and post-op handoffs with attention to patient safety
• Use Cerner and Surginet for accurate documentation, order entry and charting
• Adhere to sterile processing and preference card guidance to maintain OR efficiency
• Respond to call assignments within the required 30-minute response window
• Support unit-based initiatives, assist with patient flow and participate in clinical problem-solving

Qualifications

• Active RN license in the applicable state required
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (perioperative/OR experience preferred)
• Experience with Cerner and Surginet or demonstrated ability to learn EMR systems quickly
• Comfort working in a fast-paced OR with ratios approximately 1:1 and high case volume
• Willingness to participate in call rotation and occasional weekend coverage
• Ability to complete a one-week unit-specific orientation (or until comfortable) and 12 orientation hours as required

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing required; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing best practices and sterile technique familiarity
• Case management for orthopedics, neurosurgery and general surgery procedures
• Competence with electronic medical records (Cerner) and Surginet workflow
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in the OR setting
• Ability to use preference cards and support efficient surgical turnover
• Comfort collaborating with CSTs, anesthesia, RT and pharmacy teams
