Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Day shifts (primary). Start times: 06:30 AM - 03:00 PM or 06:30 AM - 07:00 PM. Schedule patterns include either two 8-hour shifts, two 12-hour shifts, or five 8-hour shifts. Weekly 1-4 hour call after a shift and a weekend call rotation approximately every 5 weeks; two call teams alternate every 12 hours.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile field and surgical instruments for a broad range of cases including general, ortho, neuro, GYN, ENT, plastics, thoracic, and endoscopy
• Set up and assist with advanced systems such as DaVinci robotic platforms, stealth navigation, O-arm imaging, and holmium lasers
• Anticipate surgeon needs and provide timely instrument delivery and retraction to help procedures run smoothly
• Support trauma and emergency pediatric cases when needed, providing calm, competent perioperative care
• Document procedures and intraoperative activity accurately in EPIC and follow hospital charting procedures
• Participate in the call rotation (1–4 hour call after a shift; weekend call ~every 5 weeks) and respond promptly when called
• Adhere to all clinical policies (including fingernail/artificial nail policy) and safety protocols to protect patients and staff
• Communicate effectively with the surgical team, ICU, PACU and ancillary departments to coordinate patient care

Qualifications

• BLS certification required
• CST preferred but not required
• Minimum 2 years of surgical technologist / OR tech experience (explicit requirement)
• Must have substantive neuro and ortho experience — high volume of these cases
• Robotics (DaVinci) experience required
• Driver's license required at time of submittal (used to confirm radius eligibility)
• Familiarity with EPIC charting preferred
• Willingness to work 8- and 12-hour day shifts and participate in weekly/weekend call rotation
• Not currently full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-associated facility (CHI/Dignity) per radius rule
• Able to meet RTO requirement up front (7 or fewer days off per 13-week contract)

Education

• BLS certification (required)
• CST preferred (not required)
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Operating room workflows and perioperative patient care
• Sterile technique, instrument handling, and instrument counts
• Proficiency with DaVinci robotic systems, stealth navigation, O-arm imaging, and holmium lasers
• Experience across ortho (ORIFs, IM nails, total joints) and neuro (crani, shunts, EVD) procedures
• Ability to support general, GYN, GU, ENT, plastics, thoracic, and endoscopy cases
• Calm, efficient response to emergency pediatric situations in the OR
• Strong communication and teamwork within high-acuity trauma and OR environments
• Accurate documentation practices in EPIC or similar charting systems
