Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care nursing for adult and adolescent patients, including respiratory failure, ARDS, sepsis, stroke, cardiogenic shock, and post-op surgical care
• Titrate and manage drips such as vasopressors, paralytics, sedatives, narcotics, and antiarrhythmics to maintain patient stability
• Continuously assess acute patients and respond to changes in condition, participating in codes and rapid response teams
• Interpret cardiac monitoring and telemetry strips using Draeger centralized monitoring and act on abnormalities
• Manage ventilator and advanced respiratory support troubleshooting from nasal cannula to full ventilator support
• Document care accurately and efficiently in EPIC to ensure clear communication across the care team
• Collaborate with physicians, residents, fellows, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care
• Support unit operations including charge duties as assigned, working closely with nurse aides and techs

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• Minimum 2 years recent ICU experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Valid driver’s license required at time of submittal (used for radius eligibility)
• Ability to titrate drips and manage complex critical care interventions
• Willingness to pass orientation skills exam with a 90% minimum
• Must not be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit facility including CHI or Dignity
• Availability to meet RTO requirement upfront (7 or fewer days per 13-week contract)

Education

• Active RN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• EPIC charting and documentation
• Telemetry and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Ventilator management, high-flow, CPAP, BiPAP familiarity
• Experience or familiarity with CRRT, Swan-Ganz, arterial lines, CVP, and ICP monitoring
• Familiarity with Impella and balloon pump support is a plus
• Rapid transfuser (BellMont) and Zoll Thermoguard hypothermia protocol exposure is helpful
• Strong critical thinking, teamwork, and communication skills
