Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: Days 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM and Nights 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM (NOC); self-scheduling with every-third-weekend requirement (Friday & Saturday counted as weekend for nights). Guaranteed 36 hours/week.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients and prioritize care for med-surg and ortho diagnoses with skill and compassion
• Administer medications and manage IV infusions safely and per protocol
• Perform wound care and monitor clinical responses to interventions
• Document thoroughly and efficiently in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with charge nurses, techs, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Lead bedside shift reports and participate in hourly rounding to improve patient experience
• Float to PCU and McDermott (behavioral health) as needed, adapting care to different settings
• Support a culture of learning and flexibility; complete orientation requirements and competency checks

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Iowa (or compact license accepted if applicable)
• BLS certification required at time of submission
• Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience (med-surg/ortho preferred)
• Driver's license required at submittal (used to confirm 50-mile radius eligibility)
• Must be able to pass orientation open-book skills exam (90% required)
• Willingness to follow facility policies (no artificial nails for patient care)
• Ability to float to PCU and behavioral health units and work independently
• Not eligible if currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity within the past year

Education

• Valid RN license (state of Iowa or compact)
• BLS certification required
• Associate degree or BSN acceptable (BSN not listed as required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Med-Surg and Orthopedics patient care
• IV infusions and basic infusion management
• Wound care and post-op ortho management
• Familiarity with EPIC charting system
• Telemetry familiarity and ability to work with monitor techs
• Strong communication for bedside shift reports and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Comfort working with diverse patient populations, including behavioral health needs
• Self-directed, flexible approach to traveler assignments and unit changes
