Roles & Responsibilities

• Contribute to the formulation of individualized patient care plans with clinical input
• Attend weekly clinical staffing and review patient treatment plans to ensure continuity
• Provide clear, compassionate medication education to patients and their families
• Document emotional and mental observations accurately and promptly in the patient chart
• Lead and deliver teaching and educational groups according to the APU schedule
• Train and supervise LPNs and MHTs in charting, vital signs, patient routines, and de-escalation
• Participate actively on performance improvement teams and unit task forces
• Accept and present lectures or educational assignments as directed by management
• Maintain Therapeutic Options certification and model professional behavior for staff and patients

Qualifications

• Oklahoma state nursing license (required)
• At least 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience (required)
• BLS (AHA) certification (required)
• NIH/NIHSS certification (required)
• De-escalation training (preferred)
• Recent traveler experience (preferred)
• Comfort leading groups and providing clinical education to staff and patients

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient care plan formulation and clinical treatment planning
• Medication education and patient/family communication
• Accurate documentation and charting best practices
• Taking and interpreting vital signs
• De-escalation techniques and maintaining a safe environment
• Therapeutic Options knowledge and certification maintenance
• Staff training, supervision, and mentoring (LPNs, MHTs)
• Participation in PI/Quality Improvement initiatives
• Group facilitation and teaching skills
