Roles & Responsibilities

• Contribute to formulation of individualized patient care plans
• Attend weekly clinical staffing and review patient treatment plans
• Provide medication education to patients and families, ensuring understanding and safety
• Observe and report patients' emotional and mental status to medical and clinical staff and document observations accurately
• Lead and facilitate teaching and educational groups on the APU schedule
• Train and mentor LPNs and MHTs in charting, vital signs, routines, proper techniques, and de-escalation
• Participate actively in PI (performance improvement) teams or unit task forces
• Deliver lectures or educational presentations as assigned by management
• Maintain current Therapeutic Options certification and model professional behavior for patients and staff

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience (required)
• Active Oklahoma state nursing license (required)
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• NIH/NIHSS certification required
• Therapeutic Options certification current or willing to obtain
• De-escalation training preferred
• Recent traveler experience preferred but CCMH will review applicants without it
• Experience training or mentoring LPNs and MHTs, and leading group education

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient care plan formulation and clinical reasoning
• Medication education and patient/family counseling
• Accurate clinical documentation and charting
• Facilitating therapeutic teaching groups
• De-escalation techniques and crisis intervention
• Monitoring and recording vital signs with attention to detail
• Participation in quality improvement and unit-based initiatives
• Strong communication, professionalism, and role-modeling behavior
