Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality perioperative nursing care using the nursing process to keep patients safe and comfortable
• Serve as circulating nurse during procedures — coordinate the team, anticipate needs, and ensure sterile technique
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and techs to maintain professional nursing standards and excellent patient outcomes
• Follow facility policies, regulatory guidelines, and surgical services protocols to ensure consistent, compliant practice
• Document perioperative care accurately in Paragon EMR to support continuity and quality of care
• Support a full spectrum of surgical specialties, assisting in both elective and critical procedures

Qualifications

• Active Michigan RN license required (provide LARA and Nursys verification; if there is a license hit, provide a managerial write-up)
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Minimum 2+ years of OR experience — required
• Must be able to circulate (experience and comfort as a circulating nurse required)
• Experience across Orthopedics, General Surgery, Gynecology, Urology, and Neurosurgery — required
• Skills checklist completed within one year of application — required for RN specialties (submit as document)
• Trauma Level II experience preferred
• Physical copies of certifications required only if specifically listed

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong command of the nursing process and perioperative/operating room nursing practices
• Proven circulating skills and familiarity with surgical services workflow
• Comfortable with Paragon EMR documentation
• Sterile technique, instrumentation awareness, and OR safety protocols
• Team-focused communication and collaboration with multi-disciplinary surgical teams
• Ability to follow facility policies and regulatory standards consistently
