Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor telemetry and interpret EKG trends to identify patient needs and escalate promptly
• Provide high-quality direct patient care on a MedSurg/Telemetry unit with a typical patient ratio of 6:1
• Document patient care, assessments and interventions accurately in Meditech EMR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient-centered care and discharge planning
• Prioritize tasks and manage time effectively across a busy 12-hour night shift
• Respond to emergent situations and assist with procedures such as heart cath follow-up as needed
• Educate patients and families about condition management, medications and post-discharge care

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (state licensure required for practice)
• Minimum 1 year of MedSurg/Telemetry nursing experience
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
• Proficiency with Meditech or similar EMR preferred
• BLS required; ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
• Dependable availability for night shifts and every other weekend scheduling
• Strong time management, critical thinking and a positive, team-oriented attitude

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• EKG basics and interpretation in a MedSurg/Tele setting
• Meditech EMR documentation and medication administration workflows
• Patient assessment, IV therapy and post-procedure monitoring
• Excellent time management and multitasking on 12-hour shifts
• Critical thinking for rapid assessment and escalation
