Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate labor and delivery support to birthing patients, assisting throughout active labor and delivery
- Manage postpartum care for birthing persons, monitoring recovery and addressing needs after delivery
- Perform newborn assessments and basic newborn care immediately after birth and during the postpartum stay
- Conduct triage evaluations for antepartum and laboring patients to determine appropriate care or escalation
- Administer and monitor NSTs (Non-Stress Tests) and report findings to the care team
- Serve as second nurse/overflow when needed to ensure patient safety and timely interventions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care for patients experiencing pregnancy or birthing complications
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient education clearly and timely
Qualifications
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- Clinical experience in labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn care (experience level not specified in posting)
- Comfort and competence with triage, NST monitoring, and providing second nurse/overflow support
- Ability to work night shifts and integrate into an active, busy unit
- Strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills to collaborate with multiple disciplines
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment skills for laboring and postpartum patients
- Maternal and newborn care best practices
- Labor support techniques and postpartum management
- Triage assessment and decision-making
- Proficiency with NST (Non-Stress Test) monitoring
- Ability to support as a second nurse and manage overflow situations
- Interdisciplinary collaboration and clear clinical communication
