Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality progressive care unit nursing for medically complex patients
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and manage cardiac drips, insulin drips, and heparin drips with vigilance
• Perform and assist with unit procedures including peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube care, and NG/Dobhoff tube insertions
• Use strong critical thinking to assess changes in condition and act decisively
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Meditech
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and execute patient-centered care plans
• Maintain hourly rounding (days) and every-2-hour rounding (nights) and keep communication boards up to date
• Troubleshoot wound vacs and support wound care processes

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Tennessee or compact preferred)
• Minimum 2 years clinical nursing experience (PCU/Telemetry or similar preferred)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Demonstrated skill in EKG rhythm interpretation and cardiac monitoring
• Experience managing IV therapy and peripheral IV skills
• Comfortable with advanced oxygen modalities (BiPAP, high-flow O2, multiple delivery systems)
• Experience with stroke care and post-cardiac cath care preferred
• Ability to float between units and work collaboratively with techs and support staff

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring
• EKG rhythm interpretation and management of cardiac drips
• IV therapy and peripheral IV insertion/maintenance
• Meditech documentation system
• Peritoneal dialysis and other dialysis-related care
• Airway and oxygen delivery systems (BiPAP, high-flow O2, Vapotherm)
• Tube feedings and NG/Dobhoff tube insertions
• Chest tube management, central line dressing changes, and wound vac troubleshooting
