Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care for OB/GYN patients across labor, delivery, and postpartum settings
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using appropriate monitoring tools and intervene promptly when changes occur
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families on pregnancy, labor, delivery, postpartum care, and newborn basics in a clear, supportive way
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and promptly in the medical record
• Support safe handoffs and transitions of care to ensure continuity and patient safety
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (must be able to practice in Texas or obtain Texas licensure)
• Minimum 1 year of recent OB/GYN or related nursing experience as stated in the posting
• Current BLS certification required; OB-specific certifications encouraged
• Strong clinical assessment skills and comfort with fetal/maternal monitoring
• Valid professional references and ability to pass background and health screenings

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in labor and delivery nursing and postpartum care
• Proficient with maternal-fetal monitoring and interpreting tracings
• Excellent communication and patient education skills
• Ability to work calmly in high-acuity situations and prioritize effectively
• Competent with EMR documentation and basic unit workflows
