Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Plant Operations, Environmental Services, and Grounds teams, supervising approximately 45 FTEs
- Develop and enforce preventive maintenance programs and schedules to keep systems reliable
- Direct maintenance of utility systems to ensure continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, and oxygen
- Inspect machinery and equipment to confirm operational standards and oversee timely repairs
- Ensure compliance of outside contractors with regulatory agencies and hospital policies
- Set clear customer service expectations and implement training plans to drive consistent performance
- Act as liaison with other departments to assess needs and develop actionable plans
- Ensure facility compliance with NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS, and local building and fire codes
Qualifications
- Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5+ years of personnel management experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of electricity, electronics, plumbing, carpentry, boiler operation, HVAC, and general building maintenance
- Experience with autoclave operation, bio-waste handling, life safety codes, and construction phasing
- Proven ability to apply engineering principles to diagnose and repair malfunctioning equipment or systems
- Willingness to relocate to a rural area (required)
Education
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent experience
Knowledge & Skills
- Facilities management and plant operations expertise
- Preventive maintenance planning and equipment inspection
- HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, boiler operation, and carpentry skills
- Environmental services operations and bio-waste handling knowledge
- Regulatory compliance knowledge: NFPA, OSHA, EPA, CMS, and local codes
- Contractor management and construction phasing experience
- Strong personnel management, staff training, and customer service skills
- Ability to apply engineering principles to practical facility challenges
