Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate critical care to pediatric patients in the PICU, maintaining patient safety and comfort
• Manage ventilators and perform ventilator checks and adjustments to support respiratory needs
• Perform IV starts, central line dressing changes, and support procedures such as holding for LPs
• Monitor hemodynamics and ICP, interpret data, and respond to changes in patient condition
• Provide tracheostomy care, tube feeding placement/management, and other advanced bedside skills
• Document accurately and promptly in Cerner to ensure continuity of care and clear communication
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams — physicians, techs, respiratory, and support staff — to coordinate care
• Educate and support families during care, providing clear updates and compassionate guidance

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure (state licensure required for practice)
• PALS certification — required
• Minimum clinical experience noted: 2 years clinical experience overall and at least 1 year of PICU experience (unit specifies 1 year PICU experience)
• Demonstrated experience with ventilator management, central line care, IV starts, and hemodynamic monitoring
• Comfortable working rotating nights and scheduled weekend coverage

Education

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (ADN/BSN); RN licensure required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong pediatric critical care knowledge (PICU/NICU/Peds experience)
• Proficiency with Cerner documentation system
• Experience using Alaris infusion pumps and ventilator management
• Skilled in hemodynamic monitoring, ICP monitoring, trach care, and tube feeding management
• Ability to prioritize in 1:1–1:2 patient ratio environments and make sound clinical decisions
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and family-centered care skills
