Roles & Responsibilities

• Circulate during a full range of elective and emergency surgical cases to ensure patient safety and flow
• Coordinate with surgical teams so cases proceed efficiently throughout the day
• Provide perioperative nursing care across specialties including abdominal, thoracic, urology, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, vascular and OB/GYN
• Respond to after-hours call requests and staff ORs for nights, weekends and holidays as part of call duties
• Multi-task effectively in a fast-paced OR environment and support both routine and emergent needs
• Document patient care, assist with turnover and maintain sterile technique and OR standards

Qualifications

• Current, full and unrestricted RN license in the State of Alaska required at time of submission
• Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience required
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN, Associate Degree in Nursing, or Diploma)
• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required
• Influenza (flu) vaccination required
• Experience in Critical Access Hospital and/or rural Operating Room settings strongly preferred
• Willingness to complete fingerprinting for SEARHC (fingerprint cards should be mailed within 2–3 days of appointment to avoid start delays)

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing (BSN, ADN or Diploma). High school diploma or GED as applicable for initial credentials.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong perioperative nursing and circulating skills
• Comfort managing both elective and emergency surgical cases
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize in high-acuity OR settings
• Experience across multiple surgical specialties (abdominal, thoracic, urology, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, vascular, OB/GYN)
• Familiarity with after-hours call processes and staffing for nights/weekends/holidays
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in multidisciplinary surgical teams
