Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide focused post-procedural nursing care for patients recovering 1–3 nights after surgery, ensuring safe transitions and excellent outcomes
• Continuously monitor telemetry and respond promptly to cardiac and rhythm changes
• Care for cath lab patients post-procedure, including assessment, documentation, and collaboration with cardiology teams
• Manage ER overflow patients when needed, triaging and stabilizing with calm, decisive action
• Administer medications, manage drains/tubes/wounds, and follow post-op protocols with accuracy
• Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
• Educate patients and families on recovery expectations, discharge planning, and follow-up needs
• Maintain accurate documentation, participate in Trinity skills checklists, and complete specialty competency testing

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (state licensure required)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• TNCC and NIHSS certifications required or current
• Telemetry and med/surg experience with demonstrated post-procedural nursing skills
• Comfortable with cath lab patient care and occasional ER overflow management
• Completion of Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklist as part of onboarding
• Ability to pass required health screenings (fit test, 10-panel drug screen, immunizations, PPD/IGRA)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry interpretation and cardiac monitoring skills
• Post-operative assessment and complication recognition
• Experience with cath lab post-procedure care
• Ability to triage and manage ER overflow patients effectively
• Excellent clinical documentation and electronic health record familiarity
• Clear communication, teamwork, and patient/family education skills
• Critical thinking, prioritization, and time management during busy night shifts
