Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care on a med-surg/telemetry unit, monitoring cardiac rhythms and responding to changes promptly
• Safely administer medications and manage infusions using Alaris and Kangaroo pumps
• Document assessments, interventions and care plans accurately in Meditech EMR
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members — charge nurses, PCTs and physicians — to coordinate patient care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge plans with empathy and clarity
• Maintain patient safety and accurate patient ratios (approximate 6:1) while managing priorities during each shift
• Support unit operations during weekend rotations and handoffs to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• ACLS certification (preferred)
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in telemetry or med-surg/telemetry
• Comfortable using Alaris and Kangaroo infusion pumps and Meditech EMR
• Strong communication, teamwork and ability to work in a fast-paced hospital setting

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• IV medication administration and infusion pump management
• Proficient documentation in Meditech
• Ability to triage and prioritize multiple patients
• Patient and family education skills
• Team collaboration and effective handoff communication
• Time management and adaptability on rotating schedules
• Basic familiarity with med-surg protocols and safety practices
