Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver expert perioperative nursing care by preparing patients, equipment and the sterile field for a wide variety of surgical procedures
• Assist surgeons and the OR team intraoperatively to ensure patient safety and efficient workflow
• Perform thorough pre-op assessments and coordinate safe handoffs to PACU and other teams
• Monitor and document patient status, advocate for timely interventions and escalate concerns when needed
• Maintain strict sterile technique and infection-prevention practices in every case
• Collaborate with anesthesia, surgical techs and multidisciplinary staff to optimize patient outcomes
• Adapt quickly and float as needed across units per Methodist floating policy while maintaining high standards of care

Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license required (temporary licenses will NOT be accepted)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Minimum 2+ years of OR nursing experience
• Minimum 2+ years of hospital experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Ability and willingness to float as needed; strong teamwork and adaptability

Knowledge & Skills

• Experience with Meditech documentation system preferred
• Familiarity with robotics and minimally invasive surgical platforms
• Clinical experience across transplant (liver, kidney, pancreas), urology, bariatric and general surgery
• Strong sterile technique, perioperative assessment and intraoperative monitoring skills
• Excellent communication, critical thinking and patient advocacy abilities
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced OR environment and learning new procedures
