Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor progressive care patients, recognizing changes in condition early
• Implement individualized nursing care plans and coordinate with the care team
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Utilize telemetry and monitor cardiac rhythms for early intervention
• Document assessments, interventions and patient responses in the electronic record
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and case managers to optimize patient outcomes
• Provide patient and family education to support recovery and discharge planning
• Respond effectively to emergencies and assist with critical care transitions

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license valid for practice in Texas
• Minimum 1 year of recent PCU or progressive care nursing experience
• Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and telemetry interpretation skills
• Comfortable with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Progressive care and telemetry monitoring
• Cardiac rhythm recognition and response
• IV medication administration and infusion management
• Patient assessment, prioritization and critical thinking
• Clear, timely documentation in EMR systems
• Effective interdisciplinary communication
