Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical ventilation and ventilator settings for neonatal and pediatric patients with precision
• Provide advanced respiratory support including HFNC and noninvasive ventilation (BiPAP/V60)
• Perform and interpret ABGs, adjust therapy based on patient response
• Deliver nebulizer therapy and airway clearance techniques (Vest CPT, Percussor, MetaNeb, Cough Assist)
• Operate and troubleshoot unit equipment such as Servo U (with NAVA), Avea ventilators and Vapotherm systems
• Collaborate closely with PICU/NICU teams to develop and implement individualized respiratory care plans
• Accurately document care in Meditech and communicate changes during handoffs
• Respond rapidly to respiratory emergencies and participate in resuscitations as needed

Qualifications

• CRT or RRT required
• Active Texas RCP license required
• BLS and ACLS required; NRP and PALS required for neonatal/pediatric care
• 6 months - 1 year PICU or Level 3/Level 4 NICU experience (must have)
• Comfortable floating to adult units when needed (voluntary)

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilation and ventilator management
• Neonatal and pediatric respiratory care practices
• HFNC, BiPAP, noninvasive ventilation skills
• ABG collection and interpretation
• Nebulizer therapy and airway clearance techniques
• Familiarity with Servo U (NAVA), Avea, V60, Vapotherm and Blender HFNC
• Experience with Vest CPT, Redbox IPV, MetaNeb, Cough Assist, Percussor CPT
• Charting and documentation experience in Meditech
• Strong teamwork, communication, and flexibility in fast-paced ICU settings
