Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality medical-surgical nursing care for adult patients across medical, surgical and orthopedic diagnoses
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and respond to changes in patient status promptly and effectively
• Administer medications and manage titratable heparin per unit protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including respiratory therapy and charge nurses to ensure safe, coordinated care
• Supervise and delegate to patient care technicians and nursing aides to maintain safe patient ratios and workflows
• Complete timely and accurate documentation using EPIC and participate in unit-specific orientation and competency assessments
• Support unit needs by floating to PCU or Burn when required

Qualifications

• Active RN license valid for practice in Nebraska
• BLS certification required
• Driver's license required at submittal
• Minimum 1 year of acute care/medical-surgical nursing experience
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and EPIC charting
• Comfortable with 12-hour night shifts and the patient ratios noted (typically 1:5-6)
• Willingness to float to PCU or Burn as needed
• Ability to pass required orientation skills exam (90% pass threshold) and comply with unit policies (for example, no artificial nails in patient care areas)
• Able to meet required return-to-office/availability expectations upfront for a 13-week assignment

• Strong medical-surgical nursing fundamentals and acute care assessment skills
• Telemetry interpretation and monitoring
• Medication administration including heparin management per protocol
• Proficient charting in EPIC
• Effective communication and teamwork in a fast-paced acute care setting
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients with varying acuity
