Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide advanced respiratory care for adolescents, adults, and geriatrics in critical care, ED, PICU, and pediatric settings
• Operate and manage ventilators including Draeger and Servo I devices, and troubleshoot high pressure alarms
• Perform airway management and suctioning tasks such as extubation, intubation assist, tracheostomy suctioning, and airway placement
• Administer respiratory medications and manage delivery systems including nebulizers, metered dose inhalers, and aerosol setups
• Interpret ABGs and perform basic EKG assessments to inform treatment plans
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, assist with patient/family communications, and support imaging scheduling and authorizations when needed
• Support pulmonary function testing when applicable and contribute to quality patient care documentation

Qualifications

• MA-C required (MA-R not accepted)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required
• Current ACLS, BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of relevant clinical experience (Adult Critical Care, ED, PICU, Peds required)
• Insurance knowledge and experience with authorizations and patient communications
• Willingness to float to other campuses
• First-time travelers accepted

Education

• Medical Assistant Certification (MA-C)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
• Current ACLS, BLS, NRP, and PALS certifications

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and weaning from mechanical ventilation
• Experience with Draeger and Servo I ventilators
• BiPAP, CPAP, Flow-by, high frequency oscillator
• Airway management: intubation assist, extubation, nasal/oral airway placement and suctioning, tracheostomy care
• Nebulizer therapies: cold, handheld, heated, ultrasonic; T-piece and trach collar setups
• Medication administration and delivery systems: albuterol, racemic epinephrine, inhaled steroids, nitric oxide, metered dose inhalers, Medihaler
• ABG interpretation and basic EKG reading
• Troubleshooting high pressure alarms and ventilator troubleshooting
• Pulmonary function test lab experience preferred
• Professional bedside skills and patient/family communication
