Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage emergency patients quickly and compassionately to prioritize care
• Provide direct bedside care for ER and med/surg swing patients, ensuring safety and comfort
• Interpret telemetry and EKG strips and act on changes in cardiac rhythms
• Manage trauma, STEMI, and stroke patients following established protocols and best practices
• Collaborate closely with ED physicians, charge nurses, and support staff to coordinate patient flow
• Document thorough, accurate patient information in PointClickCare and maintain clear handoffs
• Troubleshoot equipment such as Mindray monitors and assist with ventilator/CPAP/BiPAP issues as needed
• Float to med/surg and swing bed areas when required, delivering consistent, high-quality care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience plus prior med/surg experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (required); NIHSS and TNCC required; PALS preferred
• Comfortable reading and interpreting telemetry and EKG strips independently
• Experience with PointClickCare (PCC) or similar electronic charting systems preferred
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts, weekends (EOW), and holidays as scheduled
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing and med/surg fundamentals
• Telemetry strip reading and EKG interpretation
• Trauma, STEMI, and stroke recognition and initial management
• Familiarity with Mindray monitoring systems
• Troubleshooting vents, CPAP, and BiPAP equipment at a functional level
• Proficient documentation skills in electronic health records (PointClickCare preferred)
• Effective prioritization, rapid assessment, and delegation in a fast-paced ER setting
