Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist licensed physical therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans
• Deliver hands-on therapeutic interventions such as gait training, range-of-motion and transfer training
• Monitor and document patient progress clearly and timely in the care record
• Collaborate with nurses, rehab team members and families to support patient goals
• Educate patients and caregivers on home programs and safe mobility techniques
• Maintain and sanitize therapy equipment and ensure a safe treatment environment
• Follow facility policies, safety protocols and HIPAA guidelines consistently

Qualifications

• Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) or eligible for state licensure in Maryland
• Graduate of an accredited PTA program (associate degree typically required)
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willing to obtain promptly)
• Experience in geriatric or long-term care settings is preferred
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with a patient-centered approach
• Comfortable with documentation in electronic health records

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program (Associate degree)

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of therapeutic modalities and common rehab techniques
• Proficient with transfers, gait training and use of mobility devices
• Ability to perform safe patient handling and fall-prevention strategies
• Skilled in clinical documentation and outcome tracking
• Understanding of infection control and safety procedures
• Good interpersonal skills for working with residents, families and staff
