Roles & Responsibilities

• Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the supervising physical therapist
• Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional mobility
• Monitor and document patient progress in the electronic medical record with clarity
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to optimize patient outcomes
• Educate patients and families on home programs, safety, and long-term rehabilitation strategies
• Maintain treatment areas and equipment to ensure a safe, organized environment
• Report changes in patient status promptly and participate in care planning meetings

Qualifications

• Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in New Jersey or eligible to obtain NJ licensure
• Completion of an accredited PTA program with an Associate degree
• Current BLS/CPR certification from a recognized provider
• Prior experience in rehabilitation, outpatient, or inpatient settings preferred
• Ability to pass required background checks and meet facility health screening requirements
• Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach

Education

• Associate Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of therapeutic modalities and progressive exercise techniques
• Skilled in gait training, transfers, and activities of daily living (ADL) retraining
• Comfortable with documentation in electronic medical records
• Understanding of safety, infection control, and HIPAA compliance
• Ability to adapt treatment plans based on patient response and goals
• Strong interpersonal skills for patient and family education
• Team-oriented mindset and ability to collaborate with PTs, nurses, and clinicians
