Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver hands-on occupational therapy interventions under the direction of an OTR to help patients regain independence
- Implement individualized treatment plans and adapt activities to meet patient goals
- Monitor and document patient progress accurately and communicate changes with the care team
- Provide education and training to patients and caregivers to support safe home transitions
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and other clinicians to ensure coordinated, person-centered care
Qualifications
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
- Completion of an accredited OTA program (Associate degree commonly required)
- Current state license or ability to obtain licensure for New Mexico
- Comfort working a day shift schedule that includes weekends
- Strong communication skills and a patient-focused approach
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program (preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Foundational knowledge of occupational therapy principles and common adaptive techniques
- Skilled at implementing treatment plans and documenting clinical progress
- Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Good patient and family education skills to support recovery and independence
