Roles & Responsibilities

Perform sonographic examinations of all body parts for diagnostic interpretation by radiologists
Exercise professional judgment while applying radiation protection principles
Maintain accurate patient records and files
Lead departmental quality assurance efforts
Pursue ongoing continuing education to stay at the forefront of sonography
Assist with ultrasound invasive procedures and care for equipment
Rotate shifts and assume departmental leadership when needed
Collaborate with physicians and support accreditation initiatives

Qualifications

Current ARDMS certification in at least one category (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, RDCS)
Experience performing diagnostic exams in assigned ultrasound modalities
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association
Ability to work across general, vascular, or cardiac ultrasound fields

Education

Pursue higher education with RDMS certification (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, RDCS)
Actively seek continuing education to meet radiology and RDMS requirements

Knowledge & Skills

Sonographic examination techniques
Patient records management
Quality assurance practices
Continuing education commitment
Knowledge of growth and development principles across all patient ages
Ability to thrive in stressful situations and adapt to other imaging modalities
