Roles & Responsibilities

Deliver top-notch age-specific dental care to patients from infants to geriatrics, making a real difference in Southeast Alaska
Educate patients on preventing oral disease with a focus on hygiene, home care, and nutrition
Perform thorough exams, periodontal therapy, coronal polishing, fluoride applications, and periodontal pocket measurements
Take x-rays and monitor vital signs like pulse, blood pressure, and temperature
Manage patient schedules smoothly and coordinate fun dental prevention events like health fairs and sealant clinics
Keep supplies and instruments in top shape, including proper sterilization

Qualifications

Active Dental Hygiene License in Alaska or another U.S. state (Alaska preferred)
BLS certification required within 45 days of hire
Clinical Competency within 3 months and every 3 years
High Risk Competency within 3 months and annually
Graduate of a two-year Dental Hygiene Program (Bachelor’s Degree preferred)

Education

Graduate of a two-year Dental Hygiene Program
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
High school diploma or GED

Knowledge & Skills

Proper infection control techniques
Principles of dental and periodontal disease
Proper use of dental instruments
Clinical hygiene expertise
Strong oral and written communication
Accurate clinical judgment
Excellent hand dexterity for patient care
