Contract Type: Contract

Shift Type: Block scheduling; every other weekend; 1 summer and 1 winter holiday; standby required; 36 hours per week; 3-night orientation

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $65 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive nursing care to neonates in a Level 2 Special Care Nursery
Attend deliveries as the baby nurse, ensuring immediate newborn assessment and stabilization
Manage phototherapy, respiratory distress, hypoglycemia, and withdrawal symptoms in newborns
Administer and titrate IV fluids such as D5W and TPN
Operate Bubble CPAP, Hiflow, and assist with umbilical line placement
Transition to postpartum care when SCN census is low, managing mother-baby couplets

Qualifications

Active RN license in Washington State
NRP certification required
BLS certification required
Minimum 2 years of experience in NICU Level 2 and postpartum care preferred
Skilled in IV start and maintenance, attending deliveries, and using Bubble CPAP and Hiflow
Experience with umbilical line placement assist and maintenance

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of neonatal respiratory support devices (CPAP, BiPap, Hiflow)
Ability to titrate drips and manage TPN
Proficiency in newborn assessment and resuscitation
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Flexibility to float between units as needed
