Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered critical care on a 10-bed ICU/PCU overflow unit
• Manage ventilators and advanced hemodynamic monitoring to support complex patients
• Administer and titrate critical care pharmacology (IV sedation, paralytics, vasopressors) safely and confidently
• Perform central line care and assist providers with bedside procedures such as intubations and chest tube insertions
• Document accurately and efficiently in Cerner, including mandatory bedside shift reports
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members and function as a relief charge nurse when needed for leader rounding
• Maintain patient ratios and ensure safe care delivery with a 2:1 ICU ratio (4-5:1 PCU)
• Demonstrate critical thinking and adaptability in a large-facility environment

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state of practice or compact as applicable)
• Minimum 2 years Medical ICU experience in a large facility preferred
• BLS and ACLS required
• Comfortable with ventilator management, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, and central line care
• Experience with Cerner documentation preferred
• Ability to work 12-hour rotating night shifts, weekends and holidays as scheduled
• Strong communication skills, teamwork, and clinical judgment

• Ventilator management and respiratory support

• Central line management and critical care line maintenance
• Critical care pharmacology (IV sedation, paralytics, vasopressors)
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic documentation
• Skilled in assisting with bedside procedures (intubation, chest tube)
• Comfortable using IV pumps and lift equipment
• Ability to perform bedside shift report and patient-focused rounding
