Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and quickly escalate changes in patient condition
• Provide high-quality medical-surgical nursing care, including medication administration and critical assessments
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Respond to emergencies and apply advanced cardiac life support protocols when indicated
• Document patient status, interventions and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record
• Perform patient and family education to promote recovery and safe transitions of care
• Participate in unit-specific competency testing and skills checklists to maintain clinical excellence

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (ability to verify licensure)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• TNCC and NIHSS certifications listed as required
• Demonstrated competency or experience in telemetry and medical-surgical nursing
• Successful completion of required health screenings and drug testing per facility policy

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Current RN license in Iowa (or eligible for state licensure)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Medical-surgical nursing principles and best practices
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Proficient documentation in electronic health records
• Effective communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary staff
• Ability to complete and apply specialty competency testing and skills checklists
