Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare procedure rooms and patient care areas to ensure safe, efficient delivery of care prior to first patient or procedure
• Review patient charts and verify documentation, labs, and consents are complete before procedures
• Prepare and monitor patients in the immediate pre- and post-procedural period, communicating abnormal findings promptly
• Circulate and assist during diagnostic and interventional cardiac, EP, peripheral vascular, structural heart, and neuro-interventional procedures
• Administer procedural sedation per unit policy and monitor patient response
• Document pre/post-procedure care and all procedures in real time using MacLab/CardioLab and electronic medical records
• Operate and monitor cardiology equipment including X-ray fluoroscopy and intra-cardiac ultrasound
• Participate in safety processes such as Full Stop/Time Out and maintain a therapeutic, patient-centered environment
• Precept and support new staff; engage in ongoing professional development and mandatory education

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications
• Experience in Cath Lab or ICU/CVICU/IMC strongly preferred (new grads and Med/Surg-only candidates not being considered)
• Proficiency with MacLab/CardioLab documentation and real-time procedure logging
• Comfort administering procedural sedation and circulating complex cardiovascular/EP procedures
• Ability to work varied shift lengths, respond to on-call pager, and work weekends/holidays as needed

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred — BSN must be obtained within 36 months of hire if not already held

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiovascular and electrophysiology procedures (ablations, device implants/revisions, EP studies, loop recorder insertions)
• Structural heart procedures (TAVR, LAAO) and hemodynamics
• Interventional neurology procedures (carotid stenting, stroke thrombectomy, aneurysm embolization, TCAR)
• Use of 3D mapping systems and intra-cardiac ultrasound
• X-ray fluoroscopy proficiency and patient monitoring
• Clinical documentation in MacLab/CardioLab and EMR systems
• Procedure room preparation, patient prep, and post-procedure handoff
