Nuclear Medicine Technologist - Nuclear Cardiology
Location: Wilmington, NC
Start Date: 05-13-2026
End Date: 08-12-2026
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (Day); rotating night call required; every 3rd weekend coverage
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $53 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform a full range of nuclear medicine procedures (SPECT, bone, brain, liver, renal, tumor localization) with accuracy and patient-centered care
- Operate Siemens imaging equipment and run SPECT studies, including parathyroid and myocardial imaging
- Administer and monitor myocardial stress testing protocols (adenosine, pharmacologic agents, and exercise) safely and effectively
- Start and maintain IVs, perform venipuncture and ensure high-quality blood draws for diagnostic testing
- Handle, store and dispose of radioactive materials following radiation safety protocols and facility policies
- Document imaging procedures and patient data accurately in Epic and manage medication access through Pyxis
- Provide compassionate care across the lifespan — neonates to geriatrics — and adapt techniques for pediatric and adult patients
- Participate in rotating night call and every-third-weekend coverage while maintaining excellent clinical judgment and communication
Qualifications
- ARRT (N) and/or CNMT certification required
- Minimum 5 years’ Nuclear Medicine experience (unit does not accept first-time travelers)
- Current experience with Siemens imaging systems, Epic charting, and Pyxis preferred
- Proven ability to start and maintain IVs and perform venipuncture confidently
- Comfortable with nuclear cardiology procedures (myocardial perfusion, pharmacologic and exercise stress testing)
- Experience in hospital and clinic settings; previous charge or lead experience preferred
- Trauma Level I or Level II experience is a plus
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions allowed); COVID-19 vaccine not required by facility
Education
- ARRT (N) and/or CNMT certification required
- Formal training in Nuclear Medicine (associate degree or certificate commonly expected)
Knowledge & Skills
- SPECT imaging and single-photon techniques (bone, brain, liver, renal, parathyroid)
- Myocardial perfusion imaging and stress testing (adenosine, persantine, exercise, pharmacologic stress)
- Thyroid studies including I-123 uptake and cancer surveys
- Renal flow and function studies including Lasix and Captopril protocols
- Lung scans (DTPA aerosol, perfusion, V/Q)
- Gastric emptying, HIDA and MUGA procedures
- Radiation safety, handling and disposal of radioactive materials
- Electronic charting in Epic and medication systems like Pyxis
- Strong IV/venipuncture skills and patient-centered communication
