Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert respiratory care including ventilator management and weaning for adult and pediatric patients
• Manage advanced airway procedures and assist with intubation, extubation and tracheostomy care
• Operate and troubleshoot ventilators and equipment such as Draeger, Evita XL, LTV and Zoll
• Deliver noninvasive support including BiPAP, CPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Administer and monitor respiratory medications and aerosol therapies safely and accurately
• Perform diagnostic support including interpretation of ABGs and basic EKGs
• Document all care thoroughly in EPIC and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team
• Support neonatal/pediatric patients as needed and assist with high-risk deliveries when called upon

Qualifications

• RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) required
• ACLS and BLS required; NRP preferred
• Minimum 2 years of clinical respiratory experience (Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department experience required/preferred)
• Comfortable charting in EPIC and able to float between like units
• Experience with community hospital and trauma care preferred
• Familiarity with ventilator models and advanced respiratory equipment (Draeger, Evita XL, LTV, Zoll)
• Able to work night shift schedule and weekends for the duration of the 13-week assignment

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and troubleshooting high pressure alarms
• Noninvasive ventilation: BiPAP, CPAP and HFNC
• Airway management: intubation assist, extubation, trach care
• Medication administration and aerosol delivery systems (MDI, nebulizers, inhaled therapies)
• Interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs) and basic EKG knowledge
• Pulmonary hygiene, suctioning techniques and sputum specimen collection
• Experience with neonatal/pediatric procedures like umbilical blood gases and assisting in high-risk deliveries
• Trauma care and bronchoscopy support; familiarity with Nitric Oxide and ketamine when indicated
