Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the LDRP/FBC unit — oversee staff, operations, and day-to-day patient flow with confidence
• Provide clinical leadership and serve as department nurse manager, ensuring safe, evidence-based care
• Support and mentor bedside nurses, including charge nurse functions and leadership call responsibilities
• Coordinate care for low-to-moderate acuity labor & delivery patients, including scheduled C-sections and postpartum follow-ups
• Work closely with anesthesia and transport teams to manage transfers and emergent needs in a rural setting
• Drive unit performance through staffing decisions, quality initiatives, and effective communication with providers
• Manage documentation and workflows in Cerner to ensure accurate charting and compliance
• Represent the unit in facility meetings, orientation activities, and cross-department collaboration

Qualifications

• Active RN license (ability to submit license required)
• Minimum 2 years' experience (L&D and leadership/charge experience strongly preferred)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS, Advanced AWHONN, and STABLE preferred but not required
• Previous experience with Cerner or similar EMR
• Comfort working in a rural setting with limited resources and ability to coordinate transports
• Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and strong communication skills
• Willingness to participate in leadership call/standby and occasional floating responsibilities

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of Labor & Delivery (L&D) clinical care and unit operations
• Experience managing low-to-moderate acuity L&D patients and scheduled C-sections
• Cerner EMR proficiency for charting and clinical documentation
• Ability to coordinate neonatal care, transport logistics, and anesthesia collaboration
• Charge nurse and nurse management skills including staff mentoring and scheduling
• Comfort with rural healthcare challenges and resource-limited problem solving
• Professional appearance and patient-centered communication
