Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for nuclear medicine studies and ensure comfort and understanding throughout the procedure.
• Perform high-quality diagnostic nuclear medicine scans in accordance with established protocols and safety standards.
• Administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and accurately, following all regulatory and facility-specific procedures.
• Operate and troubleshoot imaging equipment (gamma camera, dose calibrator, survey meters, well counter, thyroid uptake probe) and report maintenance issues.
• Maintain organized, clean work areas and ensure required PPE and leaded protective equipment are used appropriately.
• Document procedures, findings, and patient interactions clearly and promptly in medical records.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with radiologists, physicians, and care teams to support patient care decisions.
• Participate in teaching and instructional activities to support staff development and patient education.

Qualifications

• Current Hawaii license as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (required).
• Current BLS/HCP certification (required).
• Preferred: Minimum of 1 year of Nuclear Medicine experience (new graduates are welcome to apply).
• Demonstrated knowledge of nuclear medicine physics, radiopharmaceutical administration, and radiation safety protocols.
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills; ability to work independently in a single-tech site while leveraging system resources.

Education

• Current Hawaii Nuclear Medicine Technologist license
• BLS/HCP certification

• Diagnostic nuclear medicine imaging techniques and protocols.
• Radiation safety and proper use of leaded protective equipment.
• Operation and troubleshooting of gamma cameras, dose calibrators, survey meters, well counters, and thyroid uptake probes.

• Clear communication with radiologists, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Basic equipment maintenance and reporting.
