Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (3x12), 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM, 3 shifts per week, includes some weekends; rotates day and night coverage

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide direct and indirect patient care in the emergency department with initiative and professional judgment.
Triage patients quickly and accurately, assessing physical and psychosocial needs to prioritize care.
Communicate changes in patient status, symptoms, and diagnostic results clearly with physicians and mid-level providers.
Respond rapidly and effectively to changes in condition or treatment responses and initiate appropriate interventions.
Supervise and give direction to ED techs, registration staff, and allied health personnel to maintain smooth patient flow.
Operate manual and electronic medical equipment, start and manage IV therapy, and perform emergency procedures as needed.
Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes thoroughly to support continuity of care and team decision-making.

Qualifications

Current Montana RN license required.
Degree from an accredited nursing program required; BSN preferred.
Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ER) nursing experience required.
BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and ENPC required or must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
CEN preferred.
Basic computer and office skills; ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Education

Degree from an accredited nursing program (required)
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Emergency Department nursing principles and procedures.
Triage and rapid patient assessment skills.
IV therapy and competency with emergency equipment.
Ability to prioritize care and manage patient flow in a high-acuity environment.
Strong communication skills with physicians, mid-level providers, patients, and families.
Basic computer literacy and documentation skills.
Leadership and ability to direct allied health and registration staff when needed.
