Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead and participate in the primary and secondary trauma surveys during resuscitations, ensuring timely, evidence-based care
• Run mass transfusions using the Level 1 rapid infuser and manage associated equipment safely and efficiently
• Provide OR assistance when needed, supporting surgeons and scrub teams during emergent procedures
• Perform advanced vascular access including IV placement and assist with central and arterial line procedures
• Assist with chest tube procedures, spinal stabilization, splinting, and traction as part of emergency bedside care
• Document all patient care and procedures accurately in Meditech
• Think and act quickly in high-stress situations, prioritizing patient safety and effective team communication
• Support unit operations during nights and weekends and help maintain readiness in a busy trauma ED

Qualifications

• Current TNCC required
• ACLS, BLS required; PALS noted (and ENPC preferred)
• Minimum 2 years experience in trauma or emergency nursing (per job posting)
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — state or compact licensure recommended
• Proven strong IV skills and experience with mass transfusion/Level 1 rapid infuser
• Experience providing OR assistance and performing/assisting with emergency bedside procedures
• Familiarity with Meditech documentation system

Knowledge & Skills

• Trauma Nursing and Emergency Nursing best practices
• Mass transfusion protocols and Level 1 rapid infuser operation
• IV placement and vascular access support (central/arterial lines)
• Meditech electronic medical record documentation
• Alaris IV pump, GE CARESCAPE monitoring, Hamilton ventilator familiarity
• Chest tube assistance, spinal stabilization, splinting and traction techniques
• Rapid critical thinking and the ability to perform under pressure
• OR assistance skills during emergent cases
