Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and monitoring in the Emergency Department with compassion and urgency
• Obtain 12‑lead ECGs and perform phlebotomy to support rapid diagnosis and treatment
• Assess and record vital signs across all age groups, recognizing abnormal vs. normal parameters
• Label and transport specimens accurately and promptly to ensure lab integrity
• Assist clinicians with procedures including splinting, sutures, reductions, intubation support and other ER interventions
• Manage behavioral emergencies safely, including application of restraints when required and appropriate documentation
• Support patient mobility and feeding, and provide respectful post‑mortem care when needed
• Communicate changes in patient condition clearly and promptly to the care team

Qualifications

• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department experience (required)
• National EMT acceptable for ER Tech role; CNA/MA candidates must hold Washington state certification
• Experience in a rural or community hospital ER preferred
• Comfortable working in a Trauma Level II environment (required)
• Familiarity with Epic charting (required)
• Skills in 12‑lead ECG acquisition, phlebotomy and infection control/PPE protocols
• Ability to work a 6 × 8 schedule and cover every-other-weekend shifts

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency Department workflows and trauma-informed care
• Infection control practices, donning/removing PPE and isolation precautions
• 12‑lead ECG/EKG acquisition and interpretation basics for tech-level support
• Phlebotomy technique and proper specimen labeling/transport
• Behavioral emergency management and safe application of restraints
• Patient age‑specific competencies from neonate to older adult
• Use of glucometers and basic point-of-care testing
• Assistive procedural support: splinting, reductions, sutures, intubation assistance
