Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with clinical procedures and provide compassionate patient care
• Prepare each patient’s medical record per office protocol, including labs, allergies and correspondence
• Register patients, verify insurance coverage and referrals, and coordinate appointments
• Perform CLIA-waived testing and point-of-care procedures (phlebotomy, glucometer tests, spirometry)
• Obtain and record vital signs (blood pressure, height, weight, pulse, respirations, temperature) and vision screenings
• Perform and record EKGs as needed
• Prepare and administer vaccinations following office protocols
• Maintain clinical treatment rooms and equipment, manage clinical inventory and order supplies
• Answer phones professionally and direct calls to the appropriate team member

Qualifications

• Primary care experience is required — you know the clinic flow and patient needs
• Experience with POCT testing, blood sugar/A1C checks, and EKGs
• Experience with EPIC is a huge plus
• Prior authorization experience is a plus but not required
• Ability to perform phlebotomy and other point-of-care clinical procedures
• Comfort assisting patients with gowning and preparing them for exams, including elderly residents
• Successful completion of License/Certificate verification and the CNE Skills Checklist
• Must meet required immunizations and health screenings listed by the practice (COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella, Tdap, TB screening/PPD or IGRA, fit test)

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA) or relevant clinical certification preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient care and clinical procedures with a friendly bedside manner
• Medical record preparation and documentation best practices
• Telephone triage and professional phone etiquette
• Scheduling and registration workflows, including insurance verification
• Familiarity with EPIC or similar EHR systems
• Point-of-care testing (glucometer, A1C) and CLIA-waived testing
• Vaccine administration protocols and safe handling
• Phlebotomy, spirometry, and EKG operation
