Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to adult PCU patients with cardiac, renal, respiratory, and stroke diagnoses
• Monitor and interpret telemetry, titrate drips (Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, insulin) as ordered
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to manage arterial lines, high-flow oxygen, and post-procedure care
• Maintain a safe patient care environment, adhering to fingernail policy and infection control standards
• Float to MedSurg or ICU as needed to support PCU-level patients
• Participate in open-book orientation exam (required 90% pass rate) and ongoing skills development

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Nebraska or compact state (NLC) - must be obtained before start
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (must be current)
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU or step-down nursing experience
• Strong clinical skills in telemetry interpretation, arterial line management, and IV drip titration
• Ability to pass a 90% open-book skills exam during orientation

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in cardiac, renal, and respiratory nursing care
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Competence with high-flow oxygen therapy and portable lifts
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills - adaptable to diverse patient populations (Hispanic, Somalian)
• Flexibility to handle fast-paced, high-acuity assignments with a patient-centered approach
