Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert nursing care to critically ill neonates in a Level 4 NICU
• Monitor and manage premature infants, cardiac defects, genetic disorders, and surgical cases
• Perform Foley catheter insertions and central line dressing changes with strict sterile technique
• Collaborate with neonatologists, midlevels, and respiratory therapists for 24/7 patient management
• Utilize Cerner EMR for accurate documentation and patient tracking
• Support high-risk deliveries and manage ECMO and cooling therapy patients
• Float to mother-baby and labor care units as needed to provide neonatal expertise

Qualifications

• Must have at least 2 years of Level 4 NICU experience (Level 3 experience may be considered if busy)
• Minimum 3 years of overall NICU experience required
• Previous travel experience strongly preferred
• Active BLS and NRP certifications required; Cardiac STABLE certification preferred
• Must pass a SIMs Lab demonstrating competency in Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes with sterile field
• Comfortable with Cerner EMR and Phillips telemetry systems
• Willingness to adhere to the 50-mile radius rule (driver's license as proof of address)

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in Level 4 NICU nursing including care of premature, cardiac, surgical, and ECMO patients
• Proficiency in sterile technique for line insertions and dressing changes
• Ability to manage ventilators (RT-managed but RN must understand), and telemetry monitoring
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills for high-acuity neonates
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR and Phillips monitoring systems
• Team collaboration with charge nurses, PCTs, and multidisciplinary teams
