Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity nursing care to cardiovascular patients, including those with CHF, A-fib, post-surgical, and interventional cardiology cases
• Monitor and titrate IV drips such as amiodarone, nitroprusside, nicardipine, and epinephrine
• Interpret telemetry strips (hardwired and tele box) and respond to cardiac arrhythmias
• Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, and cardiologists in a fast-paced CVU environment
• Support the thoracic program, EP, cath lab, and structural heart patients
• Float to same-level and lower-acuity units as needed
• Orient and mentor new team members during tailored orientation shifts

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Nebraska (or compact license) required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA)
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of recent CVU, ICU, or intermediate care experience
• Driver's license required at submittal (to verify 50-mile radius rule)
• Must not be currently employed (FT, PT, or PRN) at any CommonSpirit/CHI facility

Knowledge & Skills

• Expert in titrating cardiac drips and managing blood pressure medications
• Skilled in telemetry interpretation and strip reading
• Proficient with BiPAP, CPAP, and nasal cannula oxygen delivery
• Strong ability to work in a team-based, high-acuity environment
• Comfortable with floating to diverse units within scope
• Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
