Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough physical assessments and deliver compassionate acute care to Med-Surg and telemetry patients
• Provide specialized stroke patient care using NIHSS assessment skills to support the best outcomes
• Accurately document all patient care in Meditech, ensuring clear communication between shifts
• Use strong time management and critical thinking to prioritize tasks and maintain patient safety at a 6:1 ratio
• Practice AIDET and contribute to excellent patient experience on every interaction
• Implement and monitor core measures and HAC/HAI prevention protocols to uphold quality standards
• Collaborate with unit secretaries, techs, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Float to other Med-Surg/Tele units as needed while maintaining high standards of care

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of acute care nursing experience (unit requires acute care background)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification required (stroke assessment competency)
• Chemotherapy/oncology experience is a plus
• Comfortable working 12-hour rotating night shifts including weekends

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong physical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Excellent documentation skills using Meditech
• Telemetry monitoring and acute care nursing competence
• Time management and prioritization in a fast-paced unit
• Knowledge of AIDET, core measures, HAC and HAI prevention
• Stroke patient care protocols and NIHSS assessment familiarity
