Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional, patient-centered nursing care on a Med Surg/Telemetry unit
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms to keep patients safe
• Administer medications and manage IV pumps with precision and confidence
• Perform and assist with common procedures such as wound care, post-op monitoring, and postsurgical assessments
• Communicate clearly with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, patients, and families
• Accurately document patient status and interventions in the EMR (Allscripts/Alterra)
• Support unit flow by helping with admissions, discharges, and transfers
• Float to adjacent areas (Inpatient Rehab, ED, PCU) as needed while staying within your scope

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (state licensure required)
• Minimum 1 year Med Surg and/or Telemetry nursing experience
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHS
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• IV start skills preferred
• Team-oriented, positive, and flexible attitude; weekend availability required
• Ability to work with unit equipment (Alaris IV pumps, glucometers, dynamaps, capnography)

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ASN/ADN or BSN preferred)
• Active RN license required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Med Surg nursing best practices and patient ratio awareness
• Experience with Alaris IV pump management
• Familiarity with Allscripts/Alterra EMR documentation
• Capnography and physiologic monitoring
• Strong time management and prioritization skills
• Basic competency with glucometers and dynamaps
