Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead clinical oversight of the Occupational Therapy department, ensuring high-quality patient care and adherence to professional standards
• Evaluate and treat patients (approximately 80% clinical time), applying evidence-based OT practices to maximize functional outcomes
• Supervise and mentor certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and Rehabilitation Technicians, providing clinical direction and competency assessments
• Develop, maintain, and revise OT policies and procedures covering scope of care, evaluation/treatment standards, discharge planning, and documentation
• Coordinate and oversee clinical education and competency programs for OT staff to promote continuous professional development
• Collaborate with Rehabilitation Services leadership on program development and administrative initiatives (about 20% of time)
• Ensure regulatory compliance with state practice acts, board requirements, and facility policies through auditing and quality improvement efforts
• Provide clear, timely documentation and discharge planning to support patient transitions and interdisciplinary care

Qualifications

• Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the State of California (required)
• Graduate of an Occupational Therapy program approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (required)
• Experience supervising COTAs and Rehabilitation Technicians, with strong clinical leadership skills
• Knowledge of state regulatory requirements and experience ensuring departmental compliance
• Excellent documentation, communication, and administrative abilities
• Membership in the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) preferred

Education

• Graduate of an AOTA-approved school of Occupational Therapy (required)
