Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to laboring, postpartum and newborn patients, including couplet care
• Monitor fetal status using electronic fetal monitoring and act quickly on concerning tracings
• Assist with and circulate during cesarean deliveries and support vaginal deliveries safely
• Start and maintain IVs, manage blood and blood product administration, and handle medication infusions such as insulin drips and magnesium sulfate
• Perform triage assessments for obstetrical patients and coordinate timely escalation of care
• Maintain and care for central lines (CVC/PICC) and perform phlebotomy when needed
• Document clearly and accurately in Epic and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team
• Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, newborn care and pain management to promote safe transitions home

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Swedish facilities honor active compact licenses)
• Minimum 2 years recent experience in LDRP, Labor & Delivery, Postpartum and Newborn care
• Certifications: AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, FHM, NRP required; ACLS preferred
• Demonstrated ability to circulate in the OR and assist with cesarean deliveries
• Experience with fetal monitoring, IUPC placement and calibration, epidural and PCA pump management
• Proven competency with IV therapy, blood/blood product administration and central line maintenance
• Epic charting experience required
• Note: All previous permanent employees of any Providence-affiliated facility must be separated from the health system for a minimum of 3 months to qualify for a travel position

• Fetal monitoring interpretation and fetal heart monitoring (FHM)
• Labor and delivery management including high-risk antepartum care
• IUPC placement and calibration
• IV therapy, IV starts and phlebotomy
• Administration of blood and blood products
• Management of epidural and PCA pumps
• Insulin drip and magnesium sulfate therapy
• Circulating for C-section and sterile vaginal exams
• Central line (CVC/PICC) maintenance and infection control
• Epic electronic charting and strong interdisciplinary communication
