Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to Medical-Surgical and Telemetry patients
• Continuously monitor telemetry and rapidly assess and respond to changes in cardiac or neurologic status
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Epic to ensure continuity and safety
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the interdisciplinary team to create and implement individualized care plans
• Perform NIH Stroke Scale assessments and apply ACLS/BLS protocols when indicated
• Assist with admissions, transfers and discharges while maintaining patient and family education
• Float between like units as needed to support staffing and maintain safe patient ratios
• Contribute to quality improvement, patient safety initiatives and positive patient experiences

Qualifications

• Active RN license (must be valid prior to start; pending licenses are not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIH Stroke Scale certification required
• Comfortable with 12-hour night shifts and every-other-weekend coverage
• Experience with Epic charting is required
• Ability to float between like units and adapt to unit needs
• First-time travel nurses are welcome — travel experience not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry interpretation and cardiac monitoring skills
• Solid Medical-Surgical clinical judgment and patient assessment
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills with interdisciplinary staff
• Time management and prioritization in a fast-paced acute care setting
• Ability to follow ACLS/BLS protocols and perform NIH stroke assessments
• Flexibility to support unit needs, including floating between like units
• Commitment to patient safety and quality improvement practices
